Thank you!

Hello dearies! How were your Valentine’s Day? Single or not, hope it turned out well!

For today, I would like to share with you my nails of the day (NOTD) for Valentine’s and my thoughts and first impressions about this newly opened nail salon I went to.

The color I chose was not at all Valentine’s-ey, I wanted to try something different. Also, the salon only have 5 Orly nail polishes at the moment and the rest were just regular nail polishes.

Orly Green With Envy

Green With Envy is a fun, teal color, great for summer. It’s greener in actual. Think Incredible Hulk green, just a tad darker.

About the nail salon:

If you were wondering, I soaked all major CUTS that my manicurist gave me, thus the cotton around my fingers. When she did my first hand, I told her (calmly and in a very good way) that my fingers were stinging and maybe they were cuts due to her cleaning. She answered, “No Ma’am, I don’t see any blood.”. While she was cleaning the ring finger of my other hand, my finger already bled and she didn’t even notice even though she was cleaning that finger. So I told her, “Look, it’s bleeding“, she answered, “Oh, you’re right.”. And that’s all she said. No apologies or anything. She did not even believed me when I told her the first time. I knew the cuts were many because almost all my fingers stung when she rubbed my hand with alcohol. Actually, the woman beside me who was having a pedicure, yelled “ouch!” discreetly several times.

If you look close at my pinky, you’ll notice that bits of the polish were outside my nail and it’s lighter compared to my other nails. The manicurist forgot which nail were already two coats and which were one, I even have to remind her that this and this is still one coat.  She also accidentally hit/touched my wet nails so she redid it twice (she hit it twice).

Chipped nail polish on my index finger

I had my manicure the night before I took this photo, about 12 hours after. After the manicure, I went home, had dinner, slept, woke up and took this photo. I believe that Orly nail polishes do not chip this fast, that means there’s something wrong about the application or the cleaning.

The people who work at the salon were nice and friendly but there’s an attitude I think they need to improve. I was just done with my manicure, waiting for my nails to completely dry when some customers arrived but then walked away. There were still two available seats. After that, two attendants approached me and asked me (in a hurried and tensed manner) if I was still waiting for other services to be done. I answered, “None, I’m just waiting for my nails to dry.”. Then the other one asked me if I wanted to use their nail polish drying machine for an extra fee. I really felt that they wanted me to go away now because some customers might arrive, so I just requested that they apply a quick dry solution on my nails then I would be on my way.

They could have suggested the drying machine or quick dry solution immediately after she painted my nails. Suggesting it now (nobody mentioned the quick dry solution to me, by the way) only seemed that they really wanted me to go away immediately. With that experience, I did not complain or showed how disappointed I was.

I decided not to name the nail salon right now. This nail salon just opened their business a week ago, so maybe they still need time to adjust and get used on how things should be done. I’ll be giving them a second chance then will I reveal the name.

Right now, I’m still observing and taking care of the cuts the manicurist gave me. Hope it won’t get infected.

Do you have bad salon days too?

What I Do With Frost Lipsticks

Thank you!

Do you have a lipstick that is so frosty you always look like the “Metallic Girl” going on a costume party? Ok, so maybe I’m exaggerating. 🙂 But I have a few lippies that I can’t wear as much as I want to because of its frost finish. Frost finish lipsticks highlight dry and chappy lips.

I have NYX Round Lipstick in Rose Bud. It’s a pretty and complementing warm pink color with gold frost.

New pose! (Please don't mind the uneven application. 🙂 )

Pretty right? I wouldn’t want this to go wasted so I thought of pairing it up with something. I decided to apply a gloss on top of it and a new lipstick was born!

Revlon Glossylicious in Caramel Cupcake

Revlon Glossylicious

This was the gloss that I used. It’s an old lip gloss from Revlon which I believe is now discontinued. It’s a very sheer peach gloss with tons of pink, silver, and gold microshimmers. Smells like candy too! Yum!

Now, for the final look…

Thank you!

If impulsive buying could kill, I would be dead by now! (double dead even!) I went to Digital Traincase’s store at Eton Building, Ortigas to deliver something. I saw the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream testers (or I thought they were) and checked them out. As I was looking for the shade’s name, then did I realize that they were not SMLC’s! I checked the tube’s name and read “NYX Xtreme Lip Cream”. They look very similar! The Xtreme Lip Cream has a glossy cap with a black rim on top of the tube while the SMLC has a slightly shorter black matte cap and no rim.

What NYX says:

Beautify your lips with this velvety rich lip cream that provides extreme pigmentation with a silky and glossy finish. This lip cream is a hybrid of lipstick, lip gloss, and lip stain with intense pigmentation all in one. Complete your head-turning look with the Xtreme Lip Cream in any of the 11 luscious colors.

The doe foot applicator is still here.

The shade that I chose was:

NYX Pinky Nude

Candy Land was a little light for my liking and Dolly Girl was a little bright. Pinky Nude was in between, and it’s gorgeous! Don’t be mislead by the name though, it’s very far from nude.

The thing I love the most is the pigmentation. One layer is opaque enough to cover my lips. NYX Xtreme Lip Cream gives off a satiny finish, no gloss needed. It did not dry my lips too.

Staying power is ridiculously great! I applied it at 2:30pm. Ate, drank, but didn’t talk too much that day. When I was about to go to sleep at 11:30pm, there was still around 25% of product on my lips. So it stayed for 9 hours, no kidding! But think about it, if I didn’t have to take it off, it would have stayed even longer!

NYX Xtreme Lip Cream glides smoothly on my lips, although between this and SMLC, the latter is still smoother.

Besides the finish, one of the main difference between Soft Matte Lip Creams and Xtreme Lip Cream is the scent. It smells like peanut butter cookies. If you’re from the Philippines and knows the Peanut Kisses from Cebu, it smells like those. Many reviews online said the that they hated how it smells but for me, it’s no big deal (fyi, I’m not that sensitive to scents).

I find it similar to some lipsticks that I have in my stash so I swatched them side by side.

It’s a very close fight between NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Creams and Xtreme Lip Creams. If you ask me, I prefer the Xtreme Lip Creams just because I’m not an avid fan of matte lipsticks.

How about you? Do you have other colors of NYX Xtreme Lip Creams?

Thank you!

Happy Chinese New Year everybody! 🙂

Somebody gave me these! Thank you “Secret Fairy”!

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Look how similar it is to its older sister, Colorburst Lipstick!

Center: Colorburst Lipstick in Blush

Topview: (L) Berry Smoothie, (R) Peach Parfait, (Center) Colorburst Lipstick in Blush

The packaging is cute! It has A semi-translucent cap that is colored depending on the shade. You can also check out the color through the transparent top.

These are sealed by a sticker but I found out that you can open and close these lip butters without tampering the sticker. Hmmmm…

Berry Smoothie and Peach Parfait

What Revlon says:

“Buttery balm with beautiful shiny color to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips 94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated.”

  • Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%.
  • Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth.
  • Sheer to medium colour with buttery shine.
  • Available in 20 luscious shades.

With these fellas, it’s just like you’re using your lip balm plus color.

Colors lasted for 3-4 hours on me. Pigmentation is good, especially the more opaque ones, and they’re not even lipsticks!

These babies glide smoothly on my lips. Not waxy and feels light.  It’s just like you have lip balm on your lips.

These lip butters have a faint scent that wears off quickly.

Revlon Lip Butter in 050 Berry Smoothie

Berry Smoothie

Gives a natural pink color to my lips. It has barely noticeable pink shimmers. This is the color that looked best on my lips from all the lip butters that I have tried.

Revlon Lip Butter in 025 Peach Parfait

Peach Parfait

I love this because of its gold shimmers. It’s not gritty and the shimmers don’t stray. I fell in love when I swatched this but got a little disappointment when I tried it on my lips. It’s very sheer.

Revlon Lip Butters feel very moisturizing and light but I doubt if this can help improve chappy lips. It gives off a shiny finish so no need to top with a gloss. Glides on like butter upon application.

This is great as it works as a lip balm and as a lipstick. This is best for young ladies and teenagers who are just starting their experimentations with makeup or for people with dry lips and wants color.

I’m eyeing Candy Apple, Sweet Tart, Lollipop, and Pink Truffle. What do you think?

Ellana Multipurpose Mineral Powders

Hi Everybody! Preciousang Valeria has moved to

These Simple Joys.

To get in touch and read more posts, please click on the link.

Thank you!

I want to share with you a collection of multipurpose mineral powders from a local brand  in the Philippines that offers mineral make-up. It’s been upfor a number of years now. It’s none other than Ellana!

Honeybunch – pale brownish peach frost

For me this is more matte than frosted. The shade is very close to my skin color you can barely see it.

Inspiration – golden beige frost

I asked for a neutral e/s that’ll brighten up my eyes. This was the one suggested to me. And well, it really does!

Siren – yellow golden brown shimmer

One of my favorite! The perfect blend of yellow, gold and brown.

Brilliance – pure bronze satin

The description says it all. I don’t know any other way to describe it.

Embrace – golden coffee brown high shimmer

This is a nice brown shade. It is really high in shimmer and I love it!

(swiped only twice)

Ashen –  ash gray frost

Definetly ash-grayish! I swiped too much that’s why it appears darker. There’s also a hint of blue shimmers.

Dream – white frost
Well, it’s white and it’s frosted.

Sensational – iridescent white gold (white shifting to gold) highlighter

This is my first ever Ellana MMP! I love two tones too!

Twinkle – bright sunny gold frost

I first got a hold of this when Ms. Shen of Shen’s Addiction gave me a sample way back last year, even before Twinkle was in catalogues. (Thanks Ms. Shen!) This color spells happy and gay!

Felicity – pale gold with green shimmer

Not as bright as Twinkle. The green shimmers compliment the shade well.

Polished – khaki green shimmer

For me it’s more like a green gold-ish shimmer. A very wearable green shade.

Posh – pale pink shimmer

This is the pink version of Dream.

Adore – iridescent pink frost (white shifting to pink) highlighter
Another favorite of moi! Just look and you’ll see why!

Desire – light coral pink frost

This is a nice everyday color that says, “Hey! My eyes are pretty but they’re prettier with e/s on!”

Crush – flower pink frost

Flower pink with pink frost (Yes, I’m getting redundant. I know… 🙂 )

Belle – baby pink frost

For me it’s like a matte baby pink shade with hint of blue/white shimmers.

pale plum frost
Just think about your “MyGel pen in Metallic Violet” that you owned in highschool.

Femme – pale plum frost

Just think about your “MyGel pen in Metallic Violet” that you owned in highschool.

Joyful – lavender with pink shimmer

My topmost favorite! It has everything I ever wanted! It’s:

  • lavender
  • pink
  • shimmery
  • two – toned (because of the pink shimmers)

Here’s what I think about Ellana’s Multipurpose Mineral Powders:

  • very pigmented
  • lasts long (if you apply it wet, or with cream e/s as base, or with an e/s primer)
  • a little goes a long way
  • it’s mineral makeup
  • it’s multipurpose
  • it’s great for my very sensitive skin
  • can be also bought online
  • very affordable (more than your money’s worth!)
  • made locally (love pinoy!)

  • it can get messy since it’s powder
  • unlike pressed eyeshadows, you really need to have a base or primer before using it

Before I forget…

I asked Ms. Coney what their bestselling multipurpose mineral powders are and here’s the list that she gave me:

  1. Ethereal
  2. Raven
  3. Dream
  4. Posh
  5. Honeybunch
  6. Polished

You should come and visit their sales office at Room 402 West City Plaza, 66 West Avenue, Quezon City. It’s just a ride away from SM North EDSA. Their personnel are very kind and accommodating. They will be of great help. You can also check their website here and their facebook account here.

I have some other multipurpose minerals that aren’t included in this post. I will share it next time!

Ellana is L-O-V-E!

Thank you!

Majolica Majorca is a sister company of the Japanese brand, Shisiedo. Their products are known for its quality and cute packages. Their Glass Trick Mascara / Lash Enamel Frame Plus and compact powders are extra cute!

Trick On palette GR750

Trick On palette GR750 (back)

Majolica Majorca’s Trick On Palette is also known as Majolica Majorca Majolook (Trick On). I selected GR750 mainly because they say greens look good with brown eyes. 🙂

The palette costs 795php. Their prices are a little above average. The range is more or less like Revlon.

It comes with a really great sponge tip applicator too!

The palette has 3 colors plus a “Trick On Powder” which you apply on top of your eyeshadow to give a sparkling, 3D effect.

Instructions on how to use the Trick On palette is written on a piece of paper inserted inside the box and at the back of the box so no worries if you don’t know how to use it!

Trick On palette GR750 swatch

Majolica Majorca eyeshadows have good pigmentation and staying power, you can skip the eyeshadow primer. Without an eyeshadow primer, it lasted surprisingly long! The eyeshadows have a creamy, powdery formula and very easy to blend.

Color selection is great and can be used for day or night.

Trick On Powder

The Trick On Powder is a pretty white-gold color with gold micro shimmers which reflects when hit by light.

Swatches with Trick On Powder on top of each color.

In summary,

  • Make-up newbie friendly. It has instructions and illustrations on what, where and how to apply each eyeshadow.
  • The colors on the palette goes well with each other and they can be used day or night.
  • Pigmentation and staying power is great, you can skip your eyeshadow base application.
  • The eyeshadows have a smooth and silky texture and very easy to blend.
  • Contains 4 grams of product and a little goes a long way.
  • Comes with a really good sponge tip applicator.

  • The price is a bit steep (795php).

This palette is really gorgeous you should give it a try! I really don’t have much to say but this is worth saving up for! 🙂

NYX Glitterati Glitter Cream Palette

Thank you!

What NYX says:

Add glitter and shine with NYX Professional Makeup’s multi-purpose, gel-based glitter cream – now available in a gigantic palette! A professional artist’s all-in-one glitter kit. The shades and formula are perfect for sparkle effects anywhere on the face or body.

I got this palette for a while now but I haven’t used it much. There are 21 pretty colors in the palette!

Comes with 2 double ended brushes

From the name itself, it has lots of glitters — chunky glitters. I apply this on my lids in a patting motion. Really tricky to apply and hard to smooth out.  Glitters fall off and scatter on my face after a while. Not as good as other NYX products, I would say.

Here are some swatches (Please click the photos to enlarge):

I really would like to know how to use these pretty glitters!
